Tourists killed in road mishap

TINSUKIA: At least seven people were feared dead and five others sustained injury when the vehicle carrying them slipped into a deep gorge in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

The incident took place near the tourists spot of Mayodia at around 12.00. Local residents told www.assamtimes.org that the vehicle where 15 people were travelling to the tourists spot in Lower Dibang Valley district fell into the steep gorge as it cleared the passage for another vehicle which from the opposite direction.

Local residents and police rescued five people who were rushed to the hospital. Three bodies were recovered while four others are missing and the search operation stopped in the afternoon due to deepening darkness. The search operation is resuming on Thursday morning.
