TUENSANG: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his government has been relentlessly working for the last four years to boost connectivity in the north eastern region. Addressing huge BJP-NDPP joint poll rally in Tuensang district on Thursday, Modi said north east would soon emerge as a huge global market for organic farming which would change the face of the region’s economy.
Modi claimed to have distributed 10 lakh LED bulbs among the people in the poll bound Nagaland alone to trim the excess power consumption. He said under the 'Saubhagya Yojana, the government would provide electricity to all households.
“During the last four years our government added 500 km of National Highways. For Nagaland alone, we will invest more than Rs 10,000 crore in the road sector,” said Modi. In his address he talked of a stable government in Nagaland which is possible only with BJP-NDPP alliance only, said the Prime Minister.
The assembly poll is slated for February 27in the state where the political parties have defied the civil societies’ poll boycott call although they initially agreed. At 1 in the afternoon Modi left for Meghalaya to address a rally in West Garo Hills, the home turf of chief minister Mukul Sangma where Rahul Gandhi pulled huge crowd two days back.
