Orangajuli Tea garden celebrates World Environment Day celebration
The World Environment Day was celebrated by the Orangajuli Tea Garden management a unit of Goodricke Group Limited in co-ordination with All Adivasi Students' Association Of Assam (AASAA) and All Assam Tea Tribes Student Association (ATTSA) in a befitting manner on factory campus at Orangajuli in Udalguri on Tuesday. The programme began with an awareness rally taken out by students of Orangajuli Tea Garden L.P school where students holding placards urged the ban on plastic and save earth. A man dressed as tree joining the rally caught everyone's attention.
The Deputy Manager of Orangajuli Tea Garden, Talat Ahmed inaugurated the rally.In his speech he dwelt about the importance of protecting our environment and nature. He drew the attention of the audience to the threats of global warming. He emphasized upon sustainable use of these precious resources ensuring environmental protection and nature conservation. He called upon every family to plant medicinal plants like neem in every households and promote plantation in an organised manner. He also exhorted the students to engage passionately in tree plantation and protection of environment.
A plantation drive of saplings was also carried out on the campus of Orangajuli Tea Garden L.P school was led by Senior Assistant Manager,Indibor Gogoi assisted by Labour Welfare Officer,Atanu Seal and Head Clerk,Durgeswar Deka. Local conservationists Dibakar Nayak,Ankit Tanti also joined the drive.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
