Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp Empowers Young Innovators at NEHU

NEHU Campus, 20th April, 2023 - The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), GoI, has kicked off the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) campus. The three-day program, organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU and sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Ahmedabad, aims to equip over 75 students from diverse backgrounds with the knowledge and skills required for entrepreneurship.

Esteemed experts from both industry and academia have gathered to interact with the participants, shedding light on crucial topics such as entrepreneurship, start-ups, innovation, marketing ideas, and generating resources for product commercialization. This EAC marks the second camp organized after the successful event held in March 2023.

The inauguration of the program took place on 20th April, 2023, with Professor Iftekhar Hussain, Dean of the School of Technology at NEHU, serving as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honor, Dr. Nilesh Trivedi, Assistant Director of MSME, Tura, along with Dr. P. Khongji, Head of BSSS, NEHU, Dr. Sudip Paul, Teacher-Incharge of the BME Department, NEHU, and Dr. Dinesh Bhatia and Dr. Punit Gautam, Course Coordinators, were also present at the opening ceremony.

In his welcome speech, Dr. D. Bhatia, Course Coordinator, outlined the objectives of the awareness camp, emphasizing the long-term benefits it would bring to society. He highlighted the abundant opportunities and challenges that young entrepreneurs face, particularly in India, now the world's most populous country, surpassing China. Dr. Bhatia expressed sincere gratitude to both the Central and State governments for their whole-hearted support in organizing such camps in the region.

Dr. Nilesh Trivedi shed light on the role of MSME and the Government of India in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, while also highlighting the various funding opportunities available to support such initiatives. Dr. P. Khongji expressed his satisfaction with the Entrepreneurship Camp and commended the role of his department in initiating this venture.

Professor Hussain, the Chief Guest, underscored the transformative power of start-ups and entrepreneurs in shaping the country's future. He advocated for the establishment of data centers and suitable market opportunities in the North-East region, enabling young individuals to unlock their potential. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of staying updated with recent technological trends, highlighting the pivotal role that courses like the EAC play in connecting people with rapid developments.

Dr. S. Paul highlighted the role of technology in meeting industry needs and sustaining technological advancements.

Concluding the ceremony, Dr. Punit Gautam extended a vote of thanks to all the university and external stakeholders involved in organizing the event. He expressed appreciation for the course participants and resource persons who came together for this enlightening awareness camp.

The EAC at NEHU promises to empower aspiring entrepreneurs, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools to thrive in the dynamic world of start-ups and innovation.

Bodo litterateur passes away

Kokrajhar,Jan 17: Noted Bodo litterateur Chittaranjan Mashahary passed away after fighting for the last couple of months on Wednesday.  He he 76 when he died at his Belguri residence in Kokrajhar in the wee hours.    BTAD areas observed a half holidays on Wednesday to respect the demise of the huge figure. Sahitya pensioner Chittaranjan Mashahary was hospitalized a few months back. Recently he was  admitted at Siliguri hospital for better treatment following his prolong illness. Indo-Bangla border to be sealed by Dec

NEW DELHI: Come December. A porous Indo-Bangladesh border would be a thing of the past if Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal is to be believed. Oil tankers set on fire in Jagun rebel attack

MARGHERITA: Petroleum products worth crores of rupees have gone up in flame when rebels set on fire nearly a dozen of oil tankers in Tinsukia district forcing the security forces to launch a massive menhunt on Tuesday. The incident took place at around 5 in the afternoon when these these tankers were bound for Digboi from Kharsang. Hardcore Naga rebel held in Ledo

MARGHERITA: Despite a stepped up counter insurgency operations a section of Naga rebels has been unleashing terror along in the form of extortion along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The Assam Rifles jawans on Tuesday held a hardcore NSCN(K) rebel during an operation in Ledo who has been extorting money from a section of people in the area. Acting on a tip off, the army jawans raised the Mullong Village where the rebel was arrested who was identified as Bishnu Bhujel. A pistol along with a few rounds of live bullets was seized from his possession. Later, he was sent to the Ledo police station.

Wild elephant electrocuted to death

HOJAI: Yet another wild elephant died of electrocution in Hojai on Tuesday sending shock and anger among the nature and wild life activists across the state. The incident took place at Hawaipur where a herd of wild elephants who came down to the human habitates in search of food was electrocuted in the wee hours. Rhino poaching again in Kaziranga

GUWAHATI: After a brief silence poaching strikes again in Kaziranga where a full grown rhino was killed on Sunday. The forest guards deployed in Bagori range discovered the carcass hours after the poachers killed it for the horn. Body recovered in Gossaigaon

Kokrajhar: The local residents of a village in Gossaigaon on Monday recovered the body of a boy who went missing a couple of days ago. The body was spotted at Kursakati Bridge along the Gurufela River who was later identified as Nirmal Sutradhar. Police investigation is going on.  

7 hurt in Kokrajhar road mishap

Kokrajhar: Seven wage earners sustained injury when the mini truck on which they were travelling from Bilashipara in Dhuburi met with a mishap in Kokrajhar on Monday. The incident took place in the morning when the Kokrajhar bound vehicle bearing registration no. AS 18A-1526  met with the mishap near Shyamaguri forest on the MK Road. Injured were rushed to hospital. According to police, the driver lost control over his vehicle amid fog before the mishap took place.
