Me-Dam-Me-Phi at Amguri

ME-Dam-Me-Phi, the religious programme of Tai-Ahom people, is being organised at Amguri on January 31 by Sivasagar district unit of All Tai Yuba Chatra Parishad. During this event, different competitions among children, open meeting anf community fest will be held. This is disclosed by the secretary of the Organising committee Prasanta Gogoi, in a press release.

Outgoing Assam Asset Exec. Dir. briefs media

Outgoing Assam Asset ONGC Executive Director, Bimal Kumar Barua Tuesday hosted some 200 media persons at the Officer's Club at Nazira to brief the achievements of Assam Asset during his tenure. Foundation stone of road after Amarjyoti Arandhara

Dillibari Gaon Panchayat, under Tingkhong development block has laid the foundation stone of gravel road in the Amarjyoti Arandhara, the secretary general of Tai Ahom National Council on Monday at Ghahi Pathar, under MNREGA scheme. The total length of the road will be 6.5 kilometer and it will cost about 4 lakh. Tai Ahom National Council demand Rajya Sabha Seat

The Tai Ahom National Council demands demand one seat in the up coming Rajya Sabha election from Assam. According to their Secretary General, Amar Jyoti Arandhara, after Bhadeswar Buragohain, from Asom Gana Parishad, in 1987 during the first term of AGP rule and Drupod Borgohain during the second term of AGP rule, all parties are denying Ahom Candidate for Rajya Sabha seat. So,Arandhara appeal all political parties, specially Congress to field Ahom candidate for Rajya Sabha election.The organisation is also demanding four Lok Sabha Seat and 37 Assembly seat for Ahom dominated area for a long time.

2nd Biennial conference of Me-Nang-Rai at Tingrai from May 9

The second biennial conference of Me-Nang-Rai will be held on May 9-10 at Tai Cultural Development Centre, Tingrai, Tinsukia district. The organisation was established at " Kodomkakoi" of Lakhimpur district on May 9, 2010 in presence of central members of All Assam Poi-Phuralung for betterment of the Tai-Ahom women.

Tragic death of teenager , while collecting money for Bihu Sonmilon at Simoluguri

One Babul Gogoi (12) died in a mishap at Santak-Gorchuk, Simoluguri on Saturday. The mishap occured when the deceased was collecting money for a Bihu Sonmilon, organised locally at Kenduguri. The boy with his friends was collecting of money from vehicles plying on the Romoni Ali, which connects Simoluguri and Naginimora. When they tried to stop a dumper coming towards Simoluguri who refused to stop and the members tried to stop the vehicle forcefully. According to eye witness, the deceased climbed up on the vehicle to stop it. After runing few distance the vehicle slipped away from the road and the deceased came under the Vehicle and died on the spot.

Tai cultural workshop at Bokota

Tai Ahom Development Council, in association with Siu-Ka-Pha Tai Cultural Centre of Bokota is running a 15-days workshop at Purbojyoti Club of Bokota-Parijat of Sivasagar district from February 19 to March 3. about 35 students from Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat and Sivasagar district are joining the workshop. Nabin Mohan, Sushil Mohan, Tilo Hatibarua are joining the workshop as trainers.
