Mishap claims 3 at Raha, mob set ablaze vehicle

An angry mob overturned an I-20 ( AS 01 MB-0670 ) vehicle and set it ablaze following an accident at Dighaliati under Raha Police Station at around 9.45 am on Friday. According to the information received , the I-20 car on way to Guwahati hit a motorcycle (AS02-H9911)  on its back , killing the motorcycle rider Nikat Ali on the spot and leaving other two Abdul Rashid and his daughter Janmoni Khatun ( 7 ) seriously injured. Later they died on the way to hospital by Officer-in-charge of Raha Police Station, Gautam Kumar.

According to the eyewitness the accident has happened when the motorcycle turned left direction, the speeding  vehicle hit it from  back and dragged away the motorcycle a few meters. The local people gathered on the spot, alleged that the emergency 108 service arrived on the spot late and did not take a timely action.

At this the angry people overturned the I-20 vehicle and set it ablaze on the four-lane highway. They also smashed the 108 vehicle’s windows and damaged the vehicle on the accident spot. A few policemen who were on the spot were powerless to control the crowd that, some witnesses said. But they lauded the strategy played to control the angry mob by Gautam Kumar, IC , Raha P S.

The injured I-20 vehicle persons were identified as Parvez Alam (32), Nazia Hasan (30), Adiyus Gayan (4). The were sent to hospital for treatment.

Raha administration plastic cleanliness drive

NAGAON: As part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's  call during his Independence Day speech to clean up the environment from plastic, the local administration here along with Raha Municipality Board (RMB) on Saturday launched a drive at Raha Toll Plaza along the four-lane highway to clean up the plastic garbage from the area. Notorious snatcher held , hand made pistol seized

Nagaon: The Nagaon police today apprehended a snatcher from Bhakatgaon bazar.    Identified as Bilal Uddin of Silongoni village , the apprehended person was involved in a snatching case under Sadar P S.    One hand made pistol was also recovered from the possession of the accused. Encephalitis toll mounts

Japanese Encephalitis claimed as many as 64 lives in different parts of the state till Tuesday. The number of affected people reached 265 on Tuesday. KMSS burns effigy of PM

Nagaon: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday announced a state-wide effigy burning protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the announcement of not declaring Assam flood as a ‘national issue’. As part of this state-wide protest , the district unit of Nagaon KMSS today burnt the effigy of PM Narendra Modi at Krishnaikhat on four-lane highway raising slogans against the BJP led government in centre and state. Truck driver arrested for reporting fake hijack

Nagaon: A Guwahati based truck driver and his wife have been arrested for reporting a fake truck hijacking case at the Raha police station , police said here on Sunday. Abhi - Neel murder case: Court declares two witness hostile

Nagaon: The Chief Judicial Magistrate court Nagaon declared two witness namely Numal Basumatari and Ujjal Mesh of Abhi Neel case as hostile. Both of the witness changed their earlier statement given in the court and before police' But court accepted their earlier statement and not allowed to change.
