The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and Information & Public Relations, Assam organised a three-day 'Integration Mela' at the strife torn region of Dima Hasao at N.L Daolagupu Sports Complex, Haflong from February 21 to February 23. Inter school debate competition, Talent Hunt in the field of song, dance and music bands, talks by prominent personalities of the region and a presentation by various thrilling groups marked the three day event. The mega event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi as the chief guest while HAD Minister Khorsing Ingti, Chief Executive Member of DHAC, Debojeet Thaosen, Minister Information & Public Relations, Basanta Das and MLA GC Lathangsa had attended the event as guests of honour. Indian Idol session 3 winner Prasant Tamang gave a musical presentation on the second day. The event received overwhelming response and large numbers of enthusiastic participants turned up for preliminary rounds of competitions for talent hunt. School children participated in the debate competition. The event was organised with an aim to strengthen the peace process by creating communal and ethnic harmony.

Speaking over phone, the bank authority told that the LDRB bank will reopen in August 2014. Langpi Dehangi Rural Bank, sponsored by State Bank of India was established on 27th January 1982 under Section 3 (1) of Regional Rural Bank Act 1976. About five cadres of disbanded Dimasa militant outfits have floated a new group and launched a massive extortion drive in Haflong and Maibang sub divisions of the troubled Dima Hasao district in Assam. The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) scam accused RH Khan and Mohet Hojai may be freed soon from Guwahati Central Jail as the National Investigative Agency (NIA) has submitted its NOC to the court for their release. If the court permits, then they may be released next week. The Centre handed over the probe into the multi-crore DHAC scam to the NIA in 2009 after Assam Police arrested Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) rebels with huge cash. The Army recovered a cache of arms and ammunition after an encounter with extremists in Dima Hasao district on Wednesday. Two suspected Dimasa National Democratic Front (DNDF) terrorists were arrested on Thurday evening in a joint operation by the police and the army. According to police officers, the arrested militants were identified as Stamp Dimasa alias Joisholal Hagjer (36) and Probesh Hagjer (24). They were arrested in the wee hour from a locality under Maibang police station in Dima Hasao district. Two more persons, however, managed to flee, the officers said. The security agencies also recovered one AK-56 rifle and its 20 rounds of live ammunition, two mobile handsets with SIM cards, some cash and a car from their procession.
