ManipurEducation Minister Thokchom Radheshyam Singh said that knowledge, skill and discipline with consistent hard work is necessary to become successful not only for competition but for life also.
He said it while speaking as Chief Guest at the Closing Function of the 2nd Inter School Arm Wrestling Meet, 2017 at Kakwa Community Hall. The event was organised by The Manipur Arm Wrestling Association.
Participated by nearly 280 students from 35 different schools of the state, Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School became team champion with 63 points in the boy's category. The runner - up was bagged by Azad English School with 38 points. In the girl's team, Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School claimed the team Champion with 34 points and with 26 points, Khongjom Standard English School, the runner-up.
Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma launched the Women Economic Empowerment through Financial Inclusion and Entrepreneurship at U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong on Friday.
In his speech, Dr. Sangma said that the Government has started a very important programme since 2012 to take care of the most vulnerable group of society, which is the women and said that programmes like social assistance to single mothers is done only in Meghalaya to empower women with economic knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment and empower them economically.
Because most mothers are not covered under financial inclusion, the aim of the programme is to include all female heads of the state under financial inclusion, he said.
“The seed money may look very small but it has lots of positive ramifications in bringing the socio economic transformative changes for people, especially the economically challenged group,” said Dr. Sangma.
Along with supporting women financially, Dr. Sangma said that it is also important to support women with necessary financial literacy so that they have knowledge about the different kinds of initiatives rooted through banks. He said that lack of dissemination about digital banking has deprived women of the opportunity to be economically empowered. Women have not availed the benefits of the women empowerment programmes that the government has undertaken for the last 15 years because they don’t have bank accounts. Therefore, the Chief Minister felt the need for an aggressive financial literacy to women so that they have knowledge about digital banking and other facilities provided by the bank. The government is committed to ensure that women of the State are not deprived of the economic benefits and will keep track on how many partners have registered themselves and how many have benefitted from the skilled development programmes of the government, he said.
Later, he along with other dignitaries distributed seed money to 40 beneficiaries/partners under urban area skill development programme and 10 under industrial sector.
Kherai Puja was celebrated at Molandubi in Kokrajhar on Friday where thousands of devotees thronged and offered their worship to lord Bwrai Bathow.
The Kherai Puja, an oldest and original religious belief of Bodos since immemorial of times, was organised for the first time ever by Baokhungri Dokhora Dularai Gudi Bathow Afad and 54 villages of the district join hands to the celebration and offered their prayers for the peace and unity among society as well world.
Raju Narzary,president, of the Kokrajhar district Dularai Gudi Bathow Afad inaugurated the celebration in the presence of huge devotees.
During the celebration, Dowdini Sarmela Basumatary of Beswargaon performed her traditional custom prayer through the rhythm of Kham, Shipung, Jotha and expressed her potentiality of god given praying for the welfare of devotees and society, besides Jimadari (Ojha) Lachit Mushahary (Narabari) and Douri Akalu Goyary (Molandubi) also performed their tradition of prayer.
The Dowdini,Jimadari and Douri are the three mian important part of the Kherai Puja among Bodos,besides Kham, Shipung, Jotha displays the cultural tradition of the celebration.Dowdini and devotees offered their prayer and dancing with traditional musical instruments.
Karna Kanta Brahma,president of the Baokhungri Dokhora Dularai Gudi Bathow and Prasanta Brahma,organiser of the celebration told that the puja has been organised in traditional belief of Kherai, which is the original religion of the Bodos. The Kherai puja has deep tradition on cultural, literature and language of the Bodos that has been belief since immemorial of times. During the celebration prayer for peace and unity among all sections of society is the prime attractions for the devotees.
Tulunga Basumatary, secretary of the Kokrajhar district Dularai Gudi Bathow Afad and Nabin Basumatary, president of Youth wing of the Gudi Bathow Afad were also present in the celebration.
