A 12 hour Sonitpur bandh seems to have evoked hardly any response in the district on Monday.
Shops and markets, schools and colleges, banks and offices are running as usual in the entire district even after NDFB-S-sponsored bandh call from 5 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
Security forces are fanning across the district to thwart any move by NDFB-S militants to disrupt Gandhi’s poll rally to campaign for Tezpur party candidate Bhupen Bora.
Security forces are guarding the vital roads and bridges where hundreds of buses are carrying people to a rally at the Kamala Kanta Khetra in Biswanath Chariali where the Congress vice president will campaign on behalf of Bora at 1-30 in the afternoon.
