Militant killed, 2 others apprehended
A hardcore terrorist of NDFB (Songbijit faction) was killed and two others were apprehended in Parbatjhora subdivision of Kokrajhar district on Sunday in a joint operation by Army of Red Horns Division and Assam Police.
Based on tiptop information about presence of 5-6 NDFB terrorists near Gopaljhora village under Bagribari police station in Kokrajhar, Army camp Basbari launched a joint search operation in the area along with Kokrajhar police at 2.30 pm on Sunday when incessant fire from a jungle and saw 7-8 suspected terrorists running away. In a controlled retaliatory fire by security forces, one terrorist was injured who was later declared brought dead by Kokrajhar Rup Nath civil hospital and other two cadres were arrested.The identity of the deceased terrorist is being ascertained by police.
Three pistols along with number of fired cases and their live rounds, ammunition pouches, rucksacks, Khukri, 115 AK 47 Rifle live rounds, nine mobile phones with SIM cards,10 other spare SIM cards, NDFB(S) blank demand notes, money receipt book and number of other such items were recovered from their possession, said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday. Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return.
