Gas pipeline blast toll goes up

RHISHAV GOGOI, MORANHAT: The death toll in the Moranhat OIL gas pipeline explosion has gone up to three with the death of one more person on Monday.

The fourth one death took place where the injured was rushed to the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh after the incident. Three others are still battling with life at the AMCH.

Earlier, Basanta Sarma and his wife Paras Sarma succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Their two children Akash and Hemanta received 99 per cent burn injuries.

Another person identified as Michael Sabar received 98 per cent burn injuries and his wife Jyoti died in hospital.

Three others have sustained 95 per cent burn injuries when the house they lived in caught fire. They have been identified as Durga Baraik his daughter Menoka and wife Marina.

The incident took place occurred in the underground pipeline of the public sector Assam Gas Company Limited near Singlijan Tea Estate under Moranhat police station.
