Despite stiff resistance from Arvind Kejriwal and his lobby senior IAS officer from Assam Shakuntala Gamlin took over as Delhi chief secretery. 

Shakuntala, the daughter of former minister Lalit Doley and wife of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Jarbom Gamlin has alleged intimidation by a section of bureacrates not to take over. 

He was Lt Governor Jung who appointed her in the top post defying the chief minister's opposition who calls her corrupt.

Congratulation Ms S Gamlin. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT YOU PLEASE FOCUS ON ISSUES LIKE THE EXTRA ORDINARY NUMBER OF RAPES TAKING PLACE IN NCR. The Union Home Ministry in one year service , has failed to STOP this Horrible CRIME AGAINST Ordinary Citizen of NCR. WE hope and pray you give a "NEW DELHI" FREE of Rape CRIMES in less than 6 months. THE BJP Home Ministry has let us down several time with the multiple rape incidence. Tinsukia tense after Tezu murder

 Tension seems to have escalated in Tinsukia district a day after miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh lynched a local youth on Sunday allegedly for falling in love with a girl of the neighbouring state. Dissidents to meet on Aug 2

 Dissident Congress legislators are trying their level best to corner the Tarun Gogoi government in the upcoming assembly budget session. Led by the outgoing education minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the dissidents are scheduled to meet in Dispur on August---just 2 days before the assembly session to formulate their strategies. Reshuffle after budget session

 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is arriving in Guwahati on Monday a day after he met Congress president Sonia Gandhi. But he is not in a hurry to reshuffle his cabinet. Sources told Assam Times that the chief minister is likely to reshuffle his cabinet only after the budget session. Gogoi on Sunday evening is believed to have told Congress president Sonia Gandhi that the cabinet reshuffle before the assembly session would encourage the dissident camp where those left out of the cabinet might take their side. Gogoi averse to budget benefit!

Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday tore apart Tarun Gogoi alleging that the chief minister was hardly interested in the budget benefit.  Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Sonowal said that central funds are available for the state. But he alleged that the Congress government has not evinced keen interest to avail off the benefits.  He said that of the total 'Rs 63,000 crore fund earmarked in the budget for 2014-15 for North East, Assam was supposed to claim a huge amount to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore. “But the Chief Minister has not motivated the officials to work day and night to ensure optimum utilisation of the funds for the maximum development of the state,”...

Home Secy to assess NRC updating

 Dispur is all set to resume the NRC works which would help the state detect the immigrants.    After formally accepting the modalities for updating the NRC prepared by the state government, the Centre has already released Rs.144 crore to the state for the project. Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami is expected to clear all the hurdles during his proposed visit the state next week. During his visit, Goswami is set to hold a few rounds of meetings with top civil and officials, political parties and organizations to take stock of updating the NRC.

20 marriage halls under scanner

Stunned by incessant criticism, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation gets tougher with the illegal commercial establishments operating in the city. GMC is all set to seal 20 marriage halls in the city with effect from August 1. The authorities will take action against these license less halls under the Section 337 (A) (I) of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act 1971.
