A new war of words between Tarun Gogoi and Sarbananda Sonowal seems to have put the state’s sports fraternity in utter confusion these days. It takes places over the South Asian Federation (SAF) Games which the state has missed to Kerala.
The Union sports minister blamed it all on Dispur for failing to host the event while the Chief Minister said that they are all prepared for if the Centre does the needful.
In a statement from the chief minister’s office, Gogoi said if the centre takes the responsibility to organise the event in Assam, then his government will do it with all sincerity.
According to Gogoi, there is no dearth of infrastructure to organise the event. But the accommodation for the players will take time to ensure. He said the flats constructed during the National Games have been sold out and that’s why, it would be not easy to finish it early.
Sonowal said if Assam can’t host it how Kerala is going to do it within this short spell of time. He said that the government is inefficiently handling the case which is why the state missed the chance to host SAF games slated for November.
