Udalguri district administration ready to polls

Udalguri district administration of Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) is all set to conduct the scheduled first phase of Assam assembly election for three constituencies slated to be held on April 4.

A total of 26 candidates are in fray to contesting the assembly election in three LACs that all kinds of preparation and arrangements have so far completed to conduct the election.

Nine candidates are in fray to contest in 64-Panery LAC-Kamali Basumatary(BPF),Durga Das Boro(INC),Swarnalat Chaliha(SUCI),Nandaram Boro(UPP),Dinanath Das(Independent),Prabhat Das Panika(Independent),Dikan Chandra Deka (Independent) and Mahesh Chandra Sarma(Independent).

 In 69-Udalguri LAC,six candidates are in fray,included Jamansingh Brahma(INC),Rihan Daimary(BPF),Anjali Prabha Daimary((Independent),Dilip Kumar Boro(UPP),Bipul Narzary((Independent) nad Santash Madahi((Independent).

 Eleven candidates are in fray to contest in 70-Mazbat LAC-Charan Boro(BPF),Teharu Gour(AIUDF),Raphael Kujur(INC),Baldev Chouhan(LJP),Abul Quasim((Independent),Girish Chandra(Independent),Manaj Kumar Tamuli(Independent),Rabindra Basumatary(UPP),Lal Soren(Independent),Sunil Sarkar(Independent) and Swapna Dey(Independent).

A grand bike rally was organised by UPP party at Tangla area in support of UPP candidate for Panery LAC Nandaram Boro on the last day of campaigning,besides candidates of parties and Independent candidates also hold their last campaigns in the respective LACs on the last day of campaigning.

Three traffickers arrested in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar,May 25: Kokrajhar police,RPF,ABSU apprehended three suspected human traffickers and rescued two minor girls from traffickers at Brahmaputra train at Kokrajhar rail station this evening. Lightning Kills 3

Three persons were killed and six others serious injuried due to lightning at various places in Kokrajhar district on Saturday. Nareswar Basumatary (55) Lakhan Basumatary (35) of Takumpur, Kachugaon dies when they were struck by lightning in the early morning of Saturday. Manik Basumatary (3) of the same family received serious injury at the same incident. In another incident,three persons including a six month old baby received serious injuries due to lightning at Kachugaon Mainaguri. Six Bangladeshis arrested in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar:  Kokrajhar police apprehended six Bangladeshis (declared foreigners) from Gossaigaon subdivision in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. Based on the court order, police apprehended the persons who have failed to show necessary document during the citizenship verification. They are identified as Samad Fakir (Garumarachar),Tassen Ali Sheikh (No.3 Simultapu), Pramod Das (No.1 Simultapu), Shyamala Das (No.1 Simultapu), Mazjiron Bibi and Rohiton Bibi (re gaining up',said a senior police officer.

Three tier security arrangements in Strong Rooms

Kokrajhar: Three tier security arrangement has been made in the Strong Rooms where EVMs are kept in Kokrajhar. Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Partha Pratim Majumdar told the media that strict securities arrangements are made along the strong rooms to guard the EVMs. He said that the poll passed off peacefully.

Thunderstruck kills 1,left 2 injuries

At least two persons died and two others received serious injuries due to thunderstorm struck in lower Assam's Chirang and Barpeta districts on Sunday. A 16 year old girl died and two others received serious injuries of a family at a remote village due to thunderstruck in Chirang district. A heavy thunderstorm and rain at around 4.30 in the afternoon which claimed a student of class X student of Bishdowa village, Panbari in Chirang district. Kokrajhar: Bodoland University (BU), a premier educational institution in BTAD region gets new Vice Chancelore on its administrative working. Prof Laishram Ladusingh joined as voice chancelore on the Bodoland University on February 25 last and has been rendering services for the ushering of the university.
