Hagrama, Mahanta face ire
BTAD chief Hagrama Mohilary faced no less wrath of the local residents in Balajan as he visited Balajan on Sunday two days after 14 people died in militant attack at an open market.
As Mohilary and Prafulla Kumar Mahanta reached the incident site, local residents in large number staged huge protest demanding safety and security.
They rued before the duo that utter lawlessness prevails in the entire area and even the security forces have not been able to build confidence.
“Nobody knows who would kill us. We might be killed at any time. Who will ensure our safety?,” the panic stricken people in Balajan told Hagrama Mohilary and Mahanta.
Both they tried to quell the agitated people. But they alleged lawlessness and an insecured situation in the BTAD areas.

Kokrajhar: Mohmedan Sporting Club, Kolkata defeated Oil Sports Club, Duliajan 4-3 via penalty kick to lift the trophy in the final match of the19th edition of the Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup football championship-2018 held at KDSA stadium on Sunday evening. Both team were goalless in the full time of the championship. The winning team was awarded cash Rs. One lakh and a trophy. The runners team was awarded cash Rs. 50 thousand and a trophy. Kokrajhar: State players of the Assam Tchokball team was accorded warm welcome and felicitated at Kokrajhar rail station on Thursday here in Kokrajhar who were participated in the 9th national sub-junior and junior girl’s championship 2018-19 recently concluded in Navi Mumbai of Maharastra. Eminent linguist, folklorist and scholar of Assam Dr Pramod Chandra Bhattacharya breathed his last on Monday. He was 93. Dr Bhattacharya had contributes a lot toward uplift and development of the Bodo language. He had done his Ph D on Bodo language and culture. He was a prolific writer and actively associated with literary bodies of the state. Kokrajhar: Citizens in large numbers are seen busy fishing in the Longa River near Ramfalbill, Kokrajhar district since eraly morning on Thursday. The Longa Irrigation Sluice gate has released the river water every year on November 1. Hence people from different places of the lower Assam are coming here for fishing. Today, the river water was relesaed at 5 am in the morning. The river site was like festivity as all sections of people gathered to fish in the river with fishing materials.
Kokrajhar: A dead body was recovered at Boro Gendrabill on Sunday evening. The body of a young woman aged around 18 year which was found in a mysterious condition. The body was tied on her legs when her body found, said eye witnesses. Burnt marks were also seen in the body. Local public suspect that she was raped and later murdered. According to family members, she was supposed to get married. Police rushed the spot to take stock about incident. The body was sent Kokrajhar for PM.
Kokrajhar: Noted academician, former principal of Debargaon HS School, Policy Making Body (PMB) member of Bodoand People’s Front( BPF) party Karendra Nath Brahma passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Guwahati after prolong illness.
