Couple held for trafficking

A couple was apprehended from Karigaon under Kokrajhar PS for allegedly human trafficking cases by Nedan NGO and AASAA activists on Wednesday.

According to police,the couple was arrested when they reach along with trafficked girl to return her at Karigaon,who trafficked girl in October last year.

The couple was identified as Ramesh Yadav and Chumki Murmu,hailed from Islampur of Dinajpur of West Bengal state.The couple has been involved with human trafficking from the region since few years back, a NGO activist in Kokrajhar.

‘Interrogation is on them and expected more inputs about trafficking will become out’, said an AASAA activist.

Properties worth twelve lakhs were reduced to ashes when a massive  fire gutted at  least four shops in Kojrajhar on Monday. The fire broke out at a tea shop in Balajan Tinali Bazar in the wee hours which spread to the adjacent shops. The situation aggravated LPG cylinders exploded under the impact of the fire.  Two fire tenders from Kokrajhar took three hours to douse the flames. The shop owners have alleged it to be a handiwork of the miscreants. A rare species of Snake was rescued at Santinagar near Babyland school in Kokrajhar town this evening .The Snake was first noticed by public at a resident and later intimate to Snake experts Anup Sarkar,Ashit Paul and Suraj Battacharya which was rescued.The rare species of Snake was organge colour and brown on its physical structure.Snake experts identified as Orange Common Krait.
