NDFB-S cadre held

Security forces belonging to Assam Police and Army arrested, at a join operation arrested a cadre of NDFB-S from Patabari area under Runikhata PS in Chirang district on Wednesday . The cadre was identified as Swmkhwr Kaklary alias K Saiklom. An Insus riffle, magazine and 60 live rounds recovered from  him.

River well attracts visitors

KOKRAJHAR:  In a innovative well in the Sapkata River in Kokrajhar district where water flows from bottom to top attracts visitors. The well is located at Dhwrwmpur village near Athiabari under Serfanguri Police Station, nearly 60 Kms away from Kokrajhar district headquarters to the north. According to villagers, a well was constructed by villagers of Dhwrwmpur and its adjoining areas in the Sapkata river in 1991 to produce drinking water. Minor boy found at Kokrajhar railway station

KOKRAJHAR: A five year old minor male boy was found at Kokrajhar railway station in Kokrajhar.The boy was today produced before the  child welfare committee(CWC) Kokrajhar and has sent to child destination home at Anthaigwlao Chandrapara in Kokrajhar. 144 relief camps set up in BTAD

Kokrajhar: A total 144 relief camps have been opened for 125,181 flood affected peoples in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in BTAD region. Altogether 86,500 flood affected peoples are taking shelter at 120 relief camps across the Kokrajhar district which are severely affected in the flash floods. Even though,river waters are now low,yet affected are getting reported from various areas in the district. The flood waters have washed out several areas in three subdivisions like Kokrajhar,Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora. Charan Narzary passes away

Kokrajhar: Former MP and academician Charan Narzary passed away on Tuesday morning at 4.30 am at a private hospital in Guwahati. He was admitted to the hospital few months back. He was 87. Narzary was lecturer in Kokrajhar Govt College, and MP from Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency. He was also a writer. He was also founder general secretary of the Plains Tribal Council of Assam (PTCA). Japanese Encephalitis claims one in Kokrajhar

One person died in Kokrajhar district due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) at Lower Assam hospital, Bongaigaon on Friday afternoon. Four other persons have also been detected positive JE in the district and they are going under treatment at various hospitals in Bongaigaon and Guwahati. NDFB-S cadre apprehended in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Security forces belonging to Assam Police and Indian army have apprehended a Myanmar trained cadre of the Saoraigwra faction of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) from Ultapani Lananyapur on Wednesday evening in Kokrajhar district and recovered arms from his possession. Relief materials distribute in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar district unit of Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) and Women Wing of BPF distributed relief materials among inmates at Shikarbill flood relief camp in Kokrajhar district today. A total 27 families were affected in the recent flash floods after Gongia River eroded the Shikarbill village under Dotma revenue circle that force to take shelter at relief camps.
