NAMRUP:A section of people in a remote hamlet in Namrup killed a leopard hours after it killed a lady and hurt 3 others in a series of attack on Friday morning. Not only that after lynching, the villagers cut the animal into pieces in full view of the forest officials. Then they claimed to have consumed it triggering widespread anger among the animal lovers.
These disturbing incidents took place in Majkopihuwa goan and Asomiya Gaon where the local villagers in large number chased the leopard after it killed Maikon Gogoi and injuring three others in s series of attacks in the morning.
The animal then was beaten up to death. A section of them cut it into pieces to vanished. Some of them later claimed to have consumer it which needs to be probed.

The reason why the leopard attacked people is not mentioned. A leopard won't just go on an attack spree. I would assume that these would have been either chance encounters or the leopard retaliating when provoked
The Assam government has ex-gratia of Rs 3.5 lakh to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the current floods.The formal announcement was made on Wednesday after the flood toll went up to 30 from 14. The flood toll has gone up to 14 during the last three days. The toll in Goalpara alone stands at 8 after cloudburst wreaked havoc in the Assam-Meghalaya border on Monday. Of them, 4 were women. Several people have been remaining traceless in the district. Ten HS and HSLC toppers this year are all set to leave for USA on a 12 day educational tour next month. Courtesy Dispur. The Assam government is making all arrangement to take the toppers to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).According to an official statement, the entire tour will be sponsored by the 'Deba Kumar Bora Memorial NASA Visit 2014' for the first three HSLC toppers and first position holder of 12th standard in each of Arts, Science and Commerce streams.During the 12 days tour, the students would be taken to John F Kennedy Space Centre, University of Florida, AT&T Bell laboratory, Benz manufacturing factory, and visit Washington and New York cities.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has cancelled his Germany visit. This is for the second time, the chief minister has skipped his proposed visit. He was scheduled to visit Germany from September 28 to October 5.
