1st Inter Udalguri District School Athletics Meet held

In  a bid to tap the budding potential of school students in athletics the 1st Inter-Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at Tangla Stadium ground in Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of Udalguri district. The sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,Rally among others  were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud Das; Bhergaon SDO(C),Dithakananda Hazarika; District Sports Officer,Bhupen Rabha; Working President of Tangla Sports Association ,Khargeswar Boro; Internationally acclaimed Kabaddi referree,Nomal Rabha,journalist,Shajid Khan among others.From this meet, athletes will be selected for the state level athletics meet informed event secretary,Mukunda Sarma Baruah. The dignitaries also distributed the athletes with medals and certificates.

The Bhergaon regional unit of All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani (AAKRS) along with its activists of Koch Rajbongshi Mahila Sanmilani and Koch Rajbongshi Yuva Chatra Sanmilani on Monday slammed the Union government for delaying inclusion of the Koch-Rajbongshis in the list of Scheduled Tribes (plains) for over a decade now. The emergence of a massive death trap in the important road bridge over Nonai river of Tangla over the Tangla-Bhergaon road have  raised concerns of the local populace of greater Tangla area.  What is more shocking and bizzare is  that even after two days of emergence of the death trap it has not even come to notice of PWD Road authorities making it more vulnerable to major accidents.
