In a bid to tap the budding potential of school students in
athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

Along with the rest of the state the fifth death anniversary of the Bard of Brahmaputra, Dr Bhupen Hazarika was observed at Tangla and Kalaigaon on Saturday. At Tangla HS field candles were lighted by educationist Binoy Kr. Chhath puja the festival dedicated to Sun God (Surya) would be observed on riverbanks and near other water bodies on November 6 and 7 at Tangla where devotees will pay obeisance to the setting and rising Sun for sustaining life on earth. Udalguri Police have reportedly launched a crackdown in the district against rampant "extortion by NDFB (S) cadres based on numerous complaints by buisiness man,VCDC chairman,contractors. Bhergaon Atheletics Club clinched victory in the 2nd Bishnu Rabha Memorial Football Championship Trophy organized by Arunjyoti Sangha,Kacharital at the outskirts of Tangla in its play ground.
