NEHU Campus, 20th April, 2023 - The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), GoI, has kicked off the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) campus. The three-day program, organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU and sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Ahmedabad, aims to equip over 75 students from diverse backgrounds with the knowledge and skills required for entrepreneurship.

Esteemed experts from both industry and academia have gathered to interact with the participants, shedding light on crucial topics such as entrepreneurship, start-ups, innovation, marketing ideas, and generating resources for product commercialization. This EAC marks the second camp organized after the successful event held in March 2023.

The inauguration of the program took place on 20th April, 2023, with Professor Iftekhar Hussain, Dean of the School of Technology at NEHU, serving as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honor, Dr. Nilesh Trivedi, Assistant Director of MSME, Tura, along with Dr. P. Khongji, Head of BSSS, NEHU, Dr. Sudip Paul, Teacher-Incharge of the BME Department, NEHU, and Dr. Dinesh Bhatia and Dr. Punit Gautam, Course Coordinators, were also present at the opening ceremony.

In his welcome speech, Dr. D. Bhatia, Course Coordinator, outlined the objectives of the awareness camp, emphasizing the long-term benefits it would bring to society. He highlighted the abundant opportunities and challenges that young entrepreneurs face, particularly in India, now the world's most populous country, surpassing China. Dr. Bhatia expressed sincere gratitude to both the Central and State governments for their whole-hearted support in organizing such camps in the region.

Dr. Nilesh Trivedi shed light on the role of MSME and the Government of India in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, while also highlighting the various funding opportunities available to support such initiatives. Dr. P. Khongji expressed his satisfaction with the Entrepreneurship Camp and commended the role of his department in initiating this venture.

Professor Hussain, the Chief Guest, underscored the transformative power of start-ups and entrepreneurs in shaping the country's future. He advocated for the establishment of data centers and suitable market opportunities in the North-East region, enabling young individuals to unlock their potential. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of staying updated with recent technological trends, highlighting the pivotal role that courses like the EAC play in connecting people with rapid developments.

Dr. S. Paul highlighted the role of technology in meeting industry needs and sustaining technological advancements.

Concluding the ceremony, Dr. Punit Gautam extended a vote of thanks to all the university and external stakeholders involved in organizing the event. He expressed appreciation for the course participants and resource persons who came together for this enlightening awareness camp.

The EAC at NEHU promises to empower aspiring entrepreneurs, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools to thrive in the dynamic world of start-ups and innovation.

The army jawans deployed in the surgical strike claimed to have killed two north eastern rebels along the Indo-Myanmar border on Wednesday.  According to an army statement, apart from two NSCN(K) rebels, nod each from KYKL and KCP rebels were killed during the strike where many others sustained injury.  Meanwhile, the Naga rebel outfit claimed to have killed three army jawans during the heavy gun  battle which started in the wee hours.  Earlier, we reported the elimination of two dreaded Naga rebels in the strike. According to army, the surgical strike ad soon as the rebels attacked the patrolling column.  
Two NSCN(K) rebels are believed to have died and several others sustained injury as army claimed to have launched surgical strike against trouble mongers along the Indo-Myanmar border in Nagaland. Army jawans are believed to have partially dismantled terror infrascture with the strike against the north eastern rebels who keep moving in the area en route to the north eastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Meghalaya. Assam still had two outfits namely ULFA(I), NDFB(S) active while GNLA keep striking in Meghalaya. Manipur had been a hotbed of insurgent activities for the lady two decades.

At least 16 passengers sustained serious injuries when  the bus in which they were travelling met with a road mishap in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. The mishap took place at New Amguri in Kokrajhar at night as the omini bus bearing registration AML 1646  bound for Kokrajhar from Bongaigaon. Local residents came out to the rescue of the passengers and rushed the injured  to the Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital. Defying a statewide protest, the Assam government on Monday arrested Akhil Gogoi under the National Security Act in connection to an old case pending against the peasant leader in Kaziranga. Gogoi, whom Dibrugarh police arrested early this month for allegedly urging the people to remain prepared for an armed conflict with the government, was produced before a lower court which allowed the police to arrest him under the draconian Act that deals with the threat to internal security. The end came at 7 in the morning at GNRC where he the award winning film actor was undergoing treatment.  Born in Jorhat in 1931, Majid started his career as actor in theatre in 1950. The Dibugarh police probing the APSC scam on Friday filed its status report before a special Court in Guwahati with details of 25 ACS and APS officers who allegedly paid cash to chairman Rakesh Paul and his closed associates to ensure selection. The police have furnished the forensic findings of the signatures of a section of the officers who got selection in APS, ACS and allied services resorting to bribing.
