Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp Empowers Young Innovators at NEHU

NEHU Campus, 20th April, 2023 - The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), GoI, has kicked off the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) campus. The three-day program, organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU and sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Ahmedabad, aims to equip over 75 students from diverse backgrounds with the knowledge and skills required for entrepreneurship.

Esteemed experts from both industry and academia have gathered to interact with the participants, shedding light on crucial topics such as entrepreneurship, start-ups, innovation, marketing ideas, and generating resources for product commercialization. This EAC marks the second camp organized after the successful event held in March 2023.

The inauguration of the program took place on 20th April, 2023, with Professor Iftekhar Hussain, Dean of the School of Technology at NEHU, serving as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honor, Dr. Nilesh Trivedi, Assistant Director of MSME, Tura, along with Dr. P. Khongji, Head of BSSS, NEHU, Dr. Sudip Paul, Teacher-Incharge of the BME Department, NEHU, and Dr. Dinesh Bhatia and Dr. Punit Gautam, Course Coordinators, were also present at the opening ceremony.

In his welcome speech, Dr. D. Bhatia, Course Coordinator, outlined the objectives of the awareness camp, emphasizing the long-term benefits it would bring to society. He highlighted the abundant opportunities and challenges that young entrepreneurs face, particularly in India, now the world's most populous country, surpassing China. Dr. Bhatia expressed sincere gratitude to both the Central and State governments for their whole-hearted support in organizing such camps in the region.

Dr. Nilesh Trivedi shed light on the role of MSME and the Government of India in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, while also highlighting the various funding opportunities available to support such initiatives. Dr. P. Khongji expressed his satisfaction with the Entrepreneurship Camp and commended the role of his department in initiating this venture.

Professor Hussain, the Chief Guest, underscored the transformative power of start-ups and entrepreneurs in shaping the country's future. He advocated for the establishment of data centers and suitable market opportunities in the North-East region, enabling young individuals to unlock their potential. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of staying updated with recent technological trends, highlighting the pivotal role that courses like the EAC play in connecting people with rapid developments.

Dr. S. Paul highlighted the role of technology in meeting industry needs and sustaining technological advancements.

Concluding the ceremony, Dr. Punit Gautam extended a vote of thanks to all the university and external stakeholders involved in organizing the event. He expressed appreciation for the course participants and resource persons who came together for this enlightening awareness camp.

The EAC at NEHU promises to empower aspiring entrepreneurs, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools to thrive in the dynamic world of start-ups and innovation.

Assam lawyer held in Delhi

The Delhi police have arrested a Supreme Court lawyer from Assam a couple of days after his car rammed into a biker after an altercation who  died in the hospital. Identified as Rohit Krishna Mahanta, was arrested on Friday hours after the youth who sustained injury died at a hospital. Fresh tremor rocks Manipur

A 3.1 magnitude tremor rocked the north eastern state of Manipur a couple of hours after the one of 4.4 magnitude striking no less struck panic on Friday. Violence mars Arunachal Pradesh bandh

An orgy of violence marred the 12 hour Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday called in protest against the Centre’s move to accord citizenship to the Chakma and Hajong refugees in the north eastern state. KPLT men held atop Karbi hills

Security forces fanning in search of trouble mongers claimed to have captured a dreaded a rebel along with his associate in Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday. Identified as Jona Singh Rongpi, and Ranjit Bhumji, the KPLT rebels were arrested during a joint operation by CRPF and Police from Jamindar Teron. Akhil sent to jail

A lower court in Dibrugarh remanded Akhil Gogoi to fourteen days judicial custody after police produced the peasant leader before it following the end of police custody.  Police sought Gogoi in their remand again for ten days to intensity the probe. But the court rejected it and sent the KMSS leader to the jail who was arrested for his open appeal to the people to remain prepared for armed struggle if the government fails to deliver the goods.  Gogoi is set to move another bail plea before the court on Tuesday. 15 dead as boat capsizes in Meghalaya river

At least 15 people were feared to have met watery grave along the Assam-Meghalaya border when a boat carrying them on a river capsized under the impact of a huge storm on Sunday.  The tragic incident took place on  the river Sabanjoria in Khalisbhatia in the afternoon. Ten bodies were fished put till Sunday evening and the search operation which suspended due to darkness resumed on Monday morning where five more bodies were fished out. Ten other people ate said to have been missing till now.  Local residents along with SDRF jawans have been continuing the search operation on the river bed and more bodies are expected to fished out.

JFA expresses concern over Cambodia anti-media crackdown
