Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

EC defys boycott call, issues poll notification

BY MARCUS KONYAK Kohima: The Election Commission on Wednesday issued notification for the assembly polls in Nagaland slated for February 27 even after ten major political parties have decided to boycott it. BJP, however, have withdrawn its consent suspending a senior leader who signed the joint declaration allegedly without any consent from the competent authority. NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has received a PIL challenging Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Badminton Association of India chairman.In his PIL, Kamalesh Verma said the appointment of the senior BJP leader and cabinet minister in the Sarbanabda Sonowal government is a clear violation of the apex court order against appointment of minister or civil service in the vital sports body. Nagaland receives no instruction from EC

KOHIMA: Nagaland state election authority has not received any instruction from the Election Commission 24 hours after all major political parties agreed not to contest the upcoming assembly polls slated for February 27 alleging the Centre's failure to resolve the main political problem. Press Lab to combat cross-border trafficking

IMPHAL: The Impulse NGO Network (INGON) has launched a project engaging media to counter human trafficking in and between the borders of India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Nepal.
