Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

Tarun Gogoi dead

Guwahati: Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is dead. He passed away in the evening at Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment of post COVID complications. His condition deteriorated on Saturday as his organs did not properly respond to the line of treatment.

Congress files complaint against Himanta

Guwahati: State  Congress has filed a formal complaint against senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accusing him of trying to ignite communal clash by using a controversial video clip in social media.  A delegation of the party lodged the complaint at the Bhangagarh police station demanding action against Sarma as. State party president Ripun Bora said that Sarma needs to make his position clear before the police. "Why is he silent now. He announced police action against the slogan shouters. Congress leaders court arrest

Mangoldoi: AICC leader Jitendra Singh along with a few senior Congress leaders courted arrest in Mangoldoi as they were taking out a rally opposing the three farming bills.  At around 11 in the morning, Singh took the lead of the huge protest rally flanked by Ripun Bora, MPs Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi in the town.  Policemen came and detained the Congress leaders and supporters.

Hold BTC polls by Nov 20:HC tells govt

Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court has asked the  state election authorities to hold the BTC polls by November 20. Hearing a PIL, a bench of the court has issued instruction to the authorities to hold it by November 20. Notably,  then polls were scheduled for April 4 following the end of the term of Hagrama Mohilary and his fellows. But it was suspended following the COVID19 endemic. Despite repeated appeals,  the authorities did not take any decision forcing BPF to move the court.

Arnab's arrest evokes mixed reaction

Guwahati: Mixed reactions are pouring in from different quarters after the Mumbai police arrested Republic TV editor in chief Arnab Goswami in connection with a 2 year old case. People,  mostly, in social media have supported the arrest saying that the journalists are not above the law. Gogoi's condition improves further

Guwahati: Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is stable.  According to Guwahati Medical College Hospital authorities, the former CM who was rushed to ICU on Sunday midnight is properly responding to treatment.  Noninvasive ventilation system has been removed from him.  According to GMCH principal Gogoi is doing physiotherapy in the hospital and a team of doctors has been monitoring him.  His son and Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi has arrived in the city of Guwahati and visited his father.  He told media that his father's condition was improving.
