JK Borgohain passes away

Veteran journalist, prolific writer and socio economic and political analyst Jatindra Kumar Borgohain passed away on Wednesday following a brief illness.

Borgohain died two died at the Hayat Hospital at around 2-50 in the afternoon two days after he was rushed to it following a serious ailment. Despite best “possible” treatment, he failed to recuperate. He was 72.

Borgohain, who hailed from Jakhalabandha area in Nagaon district started his career of service as an assistant professor of economics in JB College. In 1992, he came to Guwahati and joined as editor wioth a vernacular daily. Since then, he served several media houses. He further joined as  editor in chief with a city based news channel.  A pall of gloom descended as soon as the news of his demise spread like wild fire.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi along with many other political and non political leadersand organizations expressed deep shock at his demise.

 Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is stable and he is fit to attend two public meetings in Tinsukia on Wednesday. CMO officials told Assam Times that the doctors attending on Gogoi said that his complaint was not so serious. He complained uneasiness ten minutes after he addressed a meeting of the party workers in Tinsukia on Tuesday.Then he was rushed to the Tinsukia Circuit House to be attended by a team of doctors from the Assam Medical College Hospital.

Yet another tragic accident leaves Raha in utter shock where a school goer was crushed to death by a moving vehicle on Tuesday. The incident took place at 9-30 in the morning at Dighaliati near when a Maruti Alto car bearing No AS-04-C 5077 hit the student from behind on the NH 37.Identified as Bitupan Bordoloi, he was riding on his bicycle to the school when the vehicle hit him from behind. The deceased was a H.S 1st year student of Raha Higher Secendary School. 
Assam DGP Khagen Sarma on Tuesday gave hint of an increasing interest of ISIS in the state. Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Sarma said people having internet access have been anxious to know ISIS activities. NDRF and SDRF personnel have fished out the ill-fated machine boat a day after it capsized in the river Kolohi with overcrowded passengers on Monday.But the SDRF personnel deployed in the search operation have not found even a single body so far. Assam Governor PB Acharya on Monday joined the war of wards against chief minister Tarun Gogoi a week after his alleged political consultation with a BJP delegation triggered no less controversy.Talking to reporters in the sidelines of a function at the Raj Bhawan, Acharya said that he had no political discussion with the BJP delegation that triggers so much controversy.
