Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

2 suspended for Kaziranga shoot out

Caught in a barrage of protest, the forest department has asked senior officer MT Timung to probe the shoot out in Kaziranga where a minor boy sustained grave injury on Sunday.The authority has further suspended the accused forest guard Manas Bora who targeted Akash Orang who was on his way back to his home in the evening near the Solmara forest camp.The department will bear the entire expenditure for treatment of Akash Orang who was injured in the incident.The department announced this following a huge protest on the National Highway demanding immediate action against the forest guard whom thousands of local people caught after the incident.

Gohain blames third force for Raha incident

Union minister of state for railway Rajen Gohain blames it all on the third force for the recent Raha incident where a local protestor was killed in police firing. Talking to reporters in Raha after visiting the widow of the firing victim Mintu Deori on Sunday, Gohain, who is also the MP from Nagaon said that without the involvement of the third force the incident would have taken place. NDFB-S militants killed in Kokrajhar

Security forces claimed to have gunned down three hard core NDFB-S rebels during a series of counter insurgency operations in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. The three insurgents were killed in three different incidents of shoot outs in the wee hours. According to information, they were killed in encounters at a dense jungle. Escalating tension in Raha

An escalating tension keeps Raha on the boil after a local resident died in police firing when he along with thousands of people enforced a bandh on the National Highway No 37 demanding the proposed AIIMS in the area. Local residents in large number thronged the vital road forcing police and para military forces to sprang upon them in the morning. A section of agitated people tried to attacked the convoy of MLA Piyush Hazarika on his way to the house of Mintu Deori, who was killed in Friday’s police firing. Khandu stakes claim to form govt

Hours after he was elected as the CLP leader in Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu staked claimed to form the new Government in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday. Immediately after the CLP meeting in Itanagar, accompanied by Nabam Tuki, Kalikho Pul, Takam Sanjay and Podi Richo, the former chief minister’s son meet Governor Tathagat Roy and staked the claim.
